Jenny Tubbs

Customer Service Specialist, ZingTrain

Jenny grew up in Eaton Rapids, Michigan and attended Michigan State University in East Lansing. After graduating with an interdisciplinary humanities degree that combined French, English Linguistics and Anthropology, Jenny worked with an herbal therapist in Quebec. She indulged her interest in cooking by preparing tinctures, herbal blends and meals for the therapist’s seminars.

Jenny moved to Ann Arbor in 1998 and was drawn to Zingerman’s because ìthe people who work here always seem to be having so much fun and enjoy working with each other. She joined the organization as a cook and grocery buyer at the now-closed Zingerman’s Practical Produce. Jenny moved on to become Administrative Assistant to Ari Weinzweig, Zingerman’s CEO and became certified to teach Zingerman’s internal customer service classes.

As Ari’s assistant, Jenny researches food facts and tracks down artisan producers from all over the world. She was the lead recipe tester and production coordinator for the recently published Zingerman’s Guide to Good Eating. And she recently completed her Dr. of Foodology degree from the University of Zingerman’s.

As Zingerman’s Service Director, Jenny chairs the organization-wide ìService Central committee, compiling all of the data collected on customer complaints and compliments, finding trends and analyzing costs. She is one of the primary trainers for Zingerman’s internal customer service classes, including The Art of Giving Great Service and Giving Great Service on the Phone, and she leads a Service Forum to address advanced customer service issues.

In addition to her customer service classes, Jenny teaches Knife Safety and Train-the-Trainer classes. She often speaks to outside organizations about Zingerman’s customer service training and systems.
