How did Zingerman’s Community of Businesses have our BEST holiday season ever in the midst of a recession? Come to The Zingerman’s Experience Seminar and find out!
We opened the deli in 1982, when the economy was horrible; interest rates were 18%. Most all of the 27 years we’ve been open the economy in Michigan has actually been pretty rough, if not downright bad. We’ve worked through 9/11, the no carb craze, the no fat furor, the wheat prices going crazy, inflation, and a lot of other stuff. That doesn’t in the least guarantee anything – it just means that we have the bases, the ethical and business foundations, the tools and the great people that it takes to work through hard times. Can we do it again now? We sure think so!
Zingerman’s founding partners, Ari Weinzweig and Paul Saginaw, share the important role vision has played in developing a strong organizational culture. The discussions about Zingerman’s 12 Laws of Building a Great Business are guaranteed to send you home inspired. You’ll spend quality time in several Zingerman’s businesses and get a chance to ask questions of Zingerman’s managing partners, managers, and front line staff. You will leave with a new perspective on organizational life.
Common participant reactions include a renewed passion for the critical nature of identifying and then living one’s values, as well as a new understanding of the essential role visioning plays in creating a great organization. And, despite pressure to enlarge ‘em, we’ve chosen to keep these seminars small (about 25 participants) so that they can be highly interactive and engaging.
This is the seminar most highly recommended as a first-time seminar, for start-ups and existing businesses looking for the next level of greatness. We guarantee that you’ll finish the two days with an array of hands-on tools to help you put your new ideas into practice.
By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Have new tools for implementing positive changes in their own business.
- Develop a network of peers within the specialty foods industry and beyond.
- Have sampled the “chef’s tasting menu” of organizational life within the ZCoB, including our food, our approach to service, open book finance, our leadership philosophy and our staff.
