Working with Zing!

Twenty-nine years of success, failure, frustration and having fun have come together in a new ZingTrain seminar that shares an all-star lineup of people-oriented systems that make a huge contribution to the way we work here at Zingerman’s.

Welcoming staff into our organization, facilitating their contributions and development, eventually parting ways: each of these is a key phase of the employment lifecycle.  We believe that building systems to support each phase of that work can help to create and maintain a healthy organizational culture; a culture in which people know what is expected of them, have the tools they need to do their jobs effectively and are recognized and rewarded accordingly.

In this seminar, we’re sharing the systems and techniques we use here to effectively identify new employees and coach, manage and transition staff through the employment experience in the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses and into our “alumni network.” We can’t guarantee the stuff in this seminar will fix all that’s amiss in your organization, but it sure helps here.

If you’re looking to improve the performance of the people you work with and simultaneously reduce stress for all involved, this seminar is for you!

By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how Zingerman’s works to build a culture of innovation and personal responsibility, balanced by the need for legal compliance.
  2. Explain the stages of the Employment Lifecycle and the role that managers play in each stage.
  3. Use a variety of new tips, tools and techniques to improve the staff experience in their own organizations.
  4. Develop a network of peers to help get past roadblocks.
