Celebrating the 10-4 Rule

Webinar

Katy Alexander

Ask anyone who’s been through our customer service training, and chances are they’ll tell you that the 10-4 Rule is their favorite tool.

The 10-4 Rule is a simple customer service technique that ensures every single person who enters your orbit is acknowledged and greeted. It actively puts your focus on the world around you and creates a more welcoming space for people to enter and engage with, Above all, it sets the tone for the rest of your experience together.

This little tool also makes a big impact on teams. The regular practice of “10-4ing” helps people feel valued and encourages communication. Over time, it can begin to untangle larger challenges you may face, such as staff engagement and performance management.

Lucky for us all, the 10-4 Rule is one of the easiest tools to adapt, teach, and implement! It’s the first thing we teach new staff (after where to park and how to clock in), and over decades of practice, we continue to discover the significant benefits that a warm smile and a simple hello can have on our relationships.

An individual can start using it right away, a manager can share the tool with their team and ask them to use it, and an organization can use it as a clear performance expectation.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • The ins and outs of the 10-4 Rule, a deceptively simple customer service technique
  • How it adapts to different situations and remains a cornerstone of great service
  • Ways to practice, teach, and adapt it for your own staff and workplace
